有人打電話找我上司，他未能接聽，我用英文應該怎樣跟來電者說？
上司未能聽電話的原因很多。假如他是在開會或見客，你可以說：Heis(tiedup)inconferencejustnow/Heis(tiedup)inameetingjustnow/Hehascompanyrightnow。Tiedup是「被縛起來」，引伸解作「分身乏術」；inconference是「正在開會」；company則是「友伴」，這裏不可解作「公司」，例如：（1）Themeetingtiedmeupthewholeafternoon（我整個下午要開會，分身乏術）。（2）Tomisinconferencewiththeboss（湯姆正和老闆開會）。（3）Hegotintobadcompany（他誤交損友）。
要說「他正在打電話」，英文是Heisonanotherline（或phone）/Hislineisbusynow。「他不在位子上」，是Heisnotathisdesknow/Heisawayfromhisdeskjustnow。「他不在位子上，但沒有離開辦公室」，則是Heisintheofficebutnotathisdesk。
要說「他還沒有回到辦公室」，英文是Heisnotinyet/Hehasnotcometotheofficeyet。「他出外吃午飯去了」，是Heisoutforlunch。「他出外去了」，是Heisnotin/Heisoutnow/Heisoutoftheoffice。「他今天不回來了」，是Hehasleftfortheday。「他回家去了」，則是Hehasgonehomefortheday。
假如你不想解釋為甚麼不能接聽電話，可以籠籠統統的說：Iamsorryheisnotavailable/istieduprightnow（對不起，他現在不能聽電話?他現在很忙）。
