一九一九年，第一次世界大戰結束不久，當時在法國當救護車司機的十八歲少年和路．迪士尼首次賺到一點餘錢。他和一個江湖騙子合作，在簇新的德國軍帽上加上假子彈孔、泥土、血漬、頭髮，當作「狙擊手頭盔」，賣給人做紀念品。
【解說】Nestegg直譯是「窩蛋」。養雞者為了誘導母雞在窩裏生蛋，會放一個真蛋或假蛋在窩裏，這就是nestegg，引伸解作「一小筆積蓄」，例如：（1）Overtheyearstheysavedupalittlenesteggfortheirretirement（多年來，他們也儲蓄了一點養老金）。（2）Afterlosingmyjob,Ihadtobreakintomynestegg（失業後，我得動用儲蓄了）。
Con-man是confidenceman的縮略。Confidence即「信心」或「信任」，和欺騙有甚麼關係？按十九世紀時，美國有些騙子會以開採金礦為名，勸人投資，有意者循例須付定金表示信任（agestureofconfidence）。那些騙子其後當然會和定金一起消失。這就是confidencegame/trick（騙局）、confidenceman（騙子）等詞的由來。Thecon-menweretrackeddownandarrested即「那些騙子被找到和拘捕了」。
