Shedidn'tcaretopayfullprice是說「她不想付全費」還是「她不在乎付全費」？
Care作動詞用，其後接todosomething或forsomething，有「想」、「喜歡」的意思，一般用於否定句或問句，例如：（1）Idon'tcaretohavelunchwithher（我不想和她一起吃午飯）。（2）Wouldyoucareforanotherpieceofcake?（再吃一塊蛋糕好嗎？）讀者示下的一句，是說「她不想付全費」。
Care當然也有「在乎」的意思，其後多接about一字，或how、what和其他wh-疑問詞，例如：Shedidn'tcare（about）howmuchshehadtopay（她不在乎要付多少錢）。「我一點都不在乎」則可說Icouldn'tcareless或Idon'tcareadamn/apin/afig/astraw/afarthing，例如Idon'tcareapin（aboutit）即「我（對此）一點都不在乎」。Damn作名詞用，可解作「些微」，fig是「無價值的東西」，straw是「稻草」，farthing是英國往日的輔幣，只值四分之一辨士（penny）。
Diamondcutdiamond的cut字為甚麼不加s？
Diamondcutdiamond（鑽石切鑽石）是成語，意思是「棋逢敵手」或「勢均力敵」。論文法，那cut字的確應加s，而Diamondcutsdiamond這說法偶然也見於文字，但一般只說cut，這是慣用法，不能解釋，例如：Thetwoscholarshadaheatedargumentoverthequestion.Itwasacaseofdiamondcutdiamond（那兩位學者就這問題激烈爭辯，勢不相下）。
