Peopleoftencontactuseagertovolunteer（不少人踴躍跟我們聯絡，志願參與）一語，文法正確嗎？Eager的位置有沒有錯？
這一句並沒有錯。拙欄說過，英文有所謂分詞子句（participleclause），以現在分詞（presentparticiple，即ing形式動詞）或過去分詞（pastparticiple，即完成式動詞）帶出子句，例如：（1）Cryingbitterly,shewentaway（=Shecriedbitterly,andshewentaway她痛哭着走了）。（2）Beingamusedbyhisperformance,weclappedhard（=Wewereamusedbyhisperformance,andweclappedhard我們給他的表演逗樂了，熱烈鼓掌）。留意第二句的Being一字可以略去，而分詞子句也往往可以置於句末，例如Shewentaway,cryingbitterly、Weclappedhard,amusedbyhisperformance。
分詞的作用等於形容詞（adjective），所以，文法上，（Being）Eagertovolunteer,peopleoftencontactus或Peopleoftencontactus（,）eagertovolunteer一語，和上述Beingamused那一句沒有分別。Eagertovolunteer之類子句，屬於副詞子句（adverbialclause），十分常見，這裏不妨多舉一例：Hewalkedtoandfro,anxiousabouthisdaughter'ssafety（他擔心女兒的安全，來回踱步）。

Onearth二字往往用於why、how、what等疑問詞之後，以加強語氣，可譯作「到底」。Whoonearthareyou?即「你到底是誰？」，Whatonearthisit?即「那究竟是甚麼？」
