《哈利．波特》故事有一句說：Asfarashewasconcerned,thestrippingdownofabrand-newFireboltwasnothinglessthancriminaldamage。究竟nothinglessthancriminaldamage是甚麼意思？
Nothinglessthan有「至少是」或「無非是」、「簡直是」的意思，例如：（1）Hewouldbesatisfiedwithnothinglessthanasalaryof$100,000amonth（他要月薪至少十萬元才滿足）。（2）Doingsuchastuntisnothinglessthansuicide(做那樣的特技簡直是自殺)。《哈利．波特》那一句的意思是：「對他來說，拆散簇新的火霹靂簡直是刑事毀壞。」Stripdown是「拆散」或「拆開」，例如tostripdownanengine是「拆開引擎」。
四月十四日出版的美國財經雙週刊Forbes引述了一句話：Therearefewwaysinwhichamancanbemoreinnocentlyemployedthaningettingmoney，這一句是甚麼意思？
先說employ：這個字有時不解作「聘用」，而解作「從事」，多用被動語態(passivevoice)，也可和myself、himself等反身代名詞(reflexivepronoun)連用，例如：Hewasemployed(或Heemployedhimself)inweedingthegarden(他正忙於給花園除草)。Few不是「有些」，而是「幾乎沒有」。Forbes那一句是說：天下萬事，沒有甚麼比努力賺錢更加乾淨。
