香港財政司長梁錦松參政謀私，獲行政長官董建華發信表揚「情操高尚」，這不奇怪。奇怪的是董建華不懂英文，偏要用英文寫信。
請看一句董氏英文：Ilookforwardtoyoutocontinuetodoyourbesttoassistme（深盼先生繼續為我臂助）。按lookforwardto的to是介系詞（preposition），其後只能接名詞或動名詞（gerund），不可用「名詞+to+原形動詞（infinitive）」，例如Ilookforwardtoyourreply（佇候示覆）不可改作Ilookforwardtoyoutoreply。董建華那一句必須改為Ilookforwardtoyourcontinuingtodoyourbesttoassistme。
請再看一句董氏英文：YourwrittenreportsindicatedthatyouhadbeeninvolvedcloselyinthediscussionsinceOctober2002（先生呈交書面報告，表示二○○二年十月起即深入參與討論）。按報告、告示、書信等述說的事物假如未成明日黃花，那「述說」譯做英文就應用現在式動詞，例如：Tungsaysinhisletter/Tung'slettersaysthathelooksforwardtoLeung'scontinuedsupport。那says一字可改做indicates、mentions等，卻不應用過去式said。董建華應說Yourwrittenreportsindicate而不是indicated。
又董建華稱讚梁錦松Youhadgivenupaverysuccessfulcareerintheprivatesectortojointhegovernment（先生捨私營機構高職而轉任公僕），不用簡單過去式動詞gave而用過去完成式hadgiven，原因是甚麼，他自己都不會知道。
