那片語沒有錯。
Face作動詞用，一般譯做「面對」。「殘酷的事實就在眼前，不能漠視」一語，英文可以這樣翻譯：Acruelfactfacesus（或Wefaceacruelfact或Wearefacedwithacruelfact）.Wecannotignoreit.
要把以上兩句合成一句，可用拙欄三月十四日談過的關係子句（relativeclause）：Wecannotignoreacruelfactthat（或which）facesus（或thatweface或thatwearefacedwith）。
拙欄說過，關係子句如用主動語態（activevoice），子句裏的who、which、that等和其後的動詞可以用ing形式的動詞取代。根據這法則，acruelfactthatfacesus可省略為acruelfactfacingus。
Theproblemsfacingthecompany（﹦Theproblemsthatfacethecompany）就是用了上述省略法。我們可以說：Theproblemsfacingthecompanyaremany（公司面臨的問題不少）。
英文還有faceupto的說法，意思是「勇敢面對」，和但指「面對」的face有點不同，例如Hefacedseriousproblems是「他面臨嚴重問題」，Hefaceduptotheproblems則是「他勇敢面對那些問題」。
