一位讀者來信，問褲子等「爆呔」英文怎樣說。
所謂「爆呔」，是指褲子等的接縫處綻裂。衣服接縫處英文叫seam，讀音和seem相同。中國人說天衣無縫，那「無縫」就是seamless，例如：Thedancersaredressedinseamlesstights（舞蹈員都穿着無縫緊身衣）。
「爆呔」英文可譯做tosplitaseam或aseamsplitsopen，例如：（1）IwasembarrassedwhenIfoundtheseamintheseatofmypantshadsplitopen（我發覺褲子臀部接縫處裂開了，大感尷尬）。（2）Unfortunately,IsplittheseamonmytrouserswhenIsquatteddown（很不幸，我蹲下時，褲子接縫處裂開了）。
英文有成語toburstattheseams，字面意思當然是「爆（burst）呔」，但一般引伸解作「擁擠」或「急不及待要做一件事」，例如：（1）ThecheapestmeansoftransportinHongKong,tramsareoftenburstingattheseams（電車是全港最便宜的交通工具，經常都極其擁擠）。（2）Tomisburstingattheseamstotellmehisfindings（湯姆急不及待要把他的調查結果告訴我）。
【補充】「我們去機場給他送行吧」英文是Let'sgotoseehimoffattheairport，絕不可以學令師那樣說Let'sgotoseehimforintheairport。留意airport之前的介系詞須用at。
